Pipe, wear linings and lined pipework for mining
Pipe made in Gaborone for mine water, and wear protection for the parts of the plant that wear out fastest: chutes, launders, pipework, cyclones, pulleys and screens.
OVERVIEW
Less downtime, lower cost per tonne
Every hour a worn chute or a leaking slurry line stops the plant costs money. We help in two ways: pipe for the water a mine runs on, and wear-resistant linings, fabrication and refurbishment that make the hard-working parts last longer.
uPVC and mPVC pressure pipe up to 500 mm and HDPE in 100 m coils, for mine water, dewatering, camps and plant drainage. Certified ranges carry the SATAS mark. Pipe for the mine
Ceramic, silicon carbide, rubber, polyurethane and other linings, supplied, fabricated and fitted, plus refurbishment of the parts you already have. What we line and refurbish
WHAT WE MAKE, LINE AND REFURBISH
For the parts that wear fastest
New parts built to your drawings, or your worn parts relined and returned. Materials we don't list can be sourced to suit your requirements.
Chutes and launders
Designed and fabricated to your drawings and lined to suit the material. We also pre-cut wear liners for the chutes and launders you already run.
Lined pipework
Fabrication, lining and refurbishment of steel pipe, bends and Y-pieces, lined with ceramic tiles or cylinders, silicon carbide or rubber.
Cyclones
Ceramic-lined cyclones, and refurbishment of yours: relined with ceramic or SiC tiles, cones and spigots, or rubber, to the original tolerances. Tile sets for inlet heads.
Pulley lagging
Ceramic tiles, 6 or 12 mm, bonded straight to the pulley: dimpled tiles for grip on drive pulleys, plain tiles on tail pulleys, with water channels. Rubber lagging too.
Screen panels
Injection-moulded polyurethane and moulded rubber panels in slotted, square, round and other apertures, with standard fittings for existing screens.
Slurry pumps and spares
Slurry pumps with silicon carbide wet ends, complete or as parts: throat bush, impeller, casing and back liner.
Pipe repair bandage
Dip it in water, wrap the leak and it cures in about 30 minutes. A fast repair in place, with no special tools or skills. Safe on drinking-water lines.
Drives and gearboxes
Driveshaft refurbishment, and refurbishment and spares for industrial gearboxes.
LINING MATERIALS
Match the lining to the wear
The right lining depends on what hits it, how fast and at what angle. A starting point:
| MATERIAL | BEST FOR | FORMS |
|---|---|---|
| Alumina ceramic | Sliding abrasion: chutes, launders, pipe bends and cyclones | Tiles from 6 to 50 mm thick, bevelled tiles for pipe, and solid cylinders where wear life matters most |
| Silicon carbide (SiC) | Severe abrasion, coarser particles, heat and aggressive pH | Tiles, cylinders, cones and spigots (apexes), and slurry pump wet ends |
| Rubber | Impact and fine, wet slurry | Shore A 40 and 60 in a range of thicknesses, for lined pipe and fittings, screen panels and pulley lagging |
| Polyurethane | Wet abrasion and screening | Cast and extruded sheet, wire inserts, rubber-backed liners and multi-coloured sheet that shows how far it has worn |
| UHMWPE and HDPE | Sticky material that hangs up in chutes and bins | Low-friction liners that keep material moving |
| Chromium carbide overlay | Heavy impact with abrasion | Overlay wear panels and load-bin liners for earthmoving equipment |
| Hardened steel | Heavy impact | Chute and bin liners |
| Wear compound | Repairs and hard-to-reach wear areas | Ceramic-bead compound that sets fast, so the plant restarts sooner after a shutdown |
A rule of thumb, not a design. Send us the duty and we'll recommend the lining.
SCREEN PANELS
Polyurethane and rubber panels
Moulded so the holes come out accurate and the open area stays high, with apertures angled for throughput and standard fittings for the screens you already run.
| Specification | POLYURETHANE PANELS | RUBBER PANELS |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness | 31, 35, 40 and 50 mm | 31, 35, 40, 50 and 70 mm |
| Module size | 300 and 305 mm | 300 and 305 mm |
| Aperture | 0.3 to 80 mm | 0.3 to 100 mm |
| Hole types | Square, slotted, round, oval, VR and VP | |
| Hardness | Shore A 60, 85 and 87 | Shore A 40 and 60 |
| Also | L-shapes, carrier bars, flow restrictors and deflectors | |
Rubber compression products too: grizzly scalping panels up to 1100 × 1400 mm, 1220 mm side liners in 20, 25 and 30 mm, and metal-backed liners. Ask us for other sizes and fixings.
PIPE FOR THE MINE
Pipelink pipe on a mine site
| PART OF THE SITE | TYPICAL CHOICE | PIPELINK PRODUCT |
|---|---|---|
| Mine and process water mains | uPVC or mPVC pressure pipe, 50–500 mm | uPVC pressure pipe |
| Dewatering and borehole lines | HDPE pressure pipe in 100 m coils, 20–110 mm | HDPE pressure pipe |
| Long lines over rough ground | mPVC: tougher and lighter for the same class | mPVC pressure pipe |
| Camp and plant drainage | SANS 791 sewer and drain pipe | Sewer and drain pipe |
| Cable routes in buildings | PVC electrical conduit | PVC electrical conduit |
Typical choices only. The project specification and your engineer's design come first.
Can you reline the chutes, pipes or cyclones we already have?
Yes. Send us the part, its dimensions or a drawing, and what it carries. We reline to suit the duty, and we can pre-cut liners for you to fit.
Which wear lining should I use?
It depends on the particle size, the speed and angle at which the material hits, whether it's wet or dry, and its chemistry. Send us the duty and how long the current lining lasts, and we'll recommend one.
Do you work to our drawings?
Yes. Chutes, launders and lined pipework are fabricated to the client's specification.
Can a leaking pipe be repaired without stopping the plant for long?
Our pipe repair bandage makes a fast repair in place: it cures in about 30 minutes, needs no special tools and works on most pipe materials. It's a quick fix to keep you running until a permanent repair.
Can I use your plastic pipe for slurry?
Sometimes. HDPE is tough and copes well with abrasion, but particle size, velocity and pressure decide. Tell us the duty before you choose a plastic pipe for slurry.
Send us the part, the duty or the drawing.
We'll recommend the lining or the pipe and quote it. Send us your request and we'll quote within 24 hours.
